WORKTOP RESURFACING / VINYL WRAPPING

What are the worktop services we can offer?

Vinyl Wrapping

This is our main worktop resurfacing service. Vinyl wrapping is a process whereby your existing worktop can be recovered using a specialist vinyl.

The product is a hard-wearing vinyl used in hotels, bars, restaurants and many other areas around the world. It is available in 100s of finishes including, marble, stone, wood and concrete.

It is much more cost-effective than a worktop replacement and avoids the additional waste, landfill and disruption caused by removing worktops. Removing worktops can cause further problems with broken tiles and other unintended damage.

There is no requirement to remove sinks or hobs as this can be cut around (very carefully!) and then sealed into place using a matching silicone.

If your existing worktops are damaged with dents, dings or water ingress, these areas can be repaired and filled before applying the vinyl. This gives you a new durable, flat surface to work from.

It can also be used to cover upstands, splashbacks or even end panels if you want to give a waterfall-type effect (worktops and end panels in the same finish) to your kitchen.

Refinishing Wooden Worktops

If you have existing timber worktops that have gotten tired over time then we can refinish these and bring them back to their former glory.

We will remove the previous coating and mechanically sand the surface using various sandpaper grades to bring the worktop back to life. We can use products to change the look of the timber using staining products.

We are able to remove some water staining in the process but it will depend on the extent of the damage. This can normally be assessed with a few pictures. If it is passed reasonable repair you can consider our vinyl wrapping solution instead.

New worktops

If you are looking for new worktops this is not something we can help with but can normally point you in the right direction. We can recommend some companies or local tradespeople that are experienced in worktop installation.

What are the main benefits of vinyl wrapping a worktop?

Cost saving

You can save up to between 50 – 80% of the cost compared to a new worktop installation. It is a far better return on investment than a new install too. You will be amazed by the quality of the designs available and you could argue it gives you more choices than the current replacement options.

Minimal disruption

Like all our services we aim to cause minimal disruption. The vinyl wrapping is no exception. You need only clear your worktop before we start and the installation should take no more than 1-2 days and is usable straight away. We can work around the sink, hob and any other worktop feature. By not removing the existing worktop you are saving yourself any potential damage or kitchen disruption.

It really looks like a new worktop!

It seems like an obvious thing to say but many of our customers say it themselves. “It looks like a new worktop” or “It looks like a different worktop” or “Is this my worktop?!”. When the final piece is applied and trimmed you won’t believe your eyes!

It’s a fast, efficient solution

For a kitchen refurbishment our services are without doubt, fast and efficient. Be assured this does not compromise on quality, it is down to year’s of experience and refining our systems and products. In as little as 1 day on-site you can have a brand-new looking worktop instead of the additional cost and mess caused by a new one.

Environmentally Friendly

This is an environmentally friendly solution. The reusing or recovering of what you have reduces landfill, transportation costs, manufacturing pollution and many other areas. We recycle as much as possible in our workshop and reuse old doors on future projects. We use towelling / rags that have been recycled from the hospitality industry to clean the kitchens.

Hard Wearing Finish

We use hard wearing primers and topcoats to ensure a long lasting and durable finish. Our preparation process also aids the whole finished product. Like most things preparation is key and without it the painting will fail.

What other parts of the Kitchen can we wrap?

In addition to worktops, we can also wrap:

  • Upstands
  • Splashbacks
  • Doors
  • Drawers
  • End panels
  • Pelmet
  • Cornice
  • Plinth

Some kitchen designs may not be suitable for wrapping, as a general guide the simpler the design the better. Flush doors, plain shaker doors and plain mouldings will work better.

If your kitchen is more difficult, then we can steer you to the respray option for the cabinets and a wrap for the worktops. A combination of services can work very well.

What preparation do we do before vinyl wrapping?

Our preparation process is extensive and has been refined from over a decade of experience in Kitchen Refurbishment

  1. All items are thoroughly degreased using a specialist cleaner. Various tools and techniques are used to get all the areas grease-free.
  2. All silicone is removed from the perimeter and around hobs and sinks.
  3. Items are then mechanically keyed using power sanders and hand sanding.
  4. Repairs are then made to any areas where filler may be required. .
  5. The filler is then checked, sanded, refilled and sanded again until smooth.
  6. All areas are then tack-clothed to remove any unwanted dust still present on the surfaces.
  7. 2 coats of specialist primer are then applied to the surface
  8.  Once the primer is dry the vinyl is carefully applied to all areas.

For a long-lasting finish, it is essential to use the correct preparation. We only use the best preparation products and do not cut corners. The finish will not last if the above process is not followed. We are registered installers for these products and have undertaken the correct training in order to deliver the best finish.
